Top 8 Bingo Playing Tips
Bingo goes back to the year 1530 when a state-owned lotto was first played in Italy. The French also played lotto and one of its variants resembled modern Bingo. But Bingo as we know it today was made famous by Edwin Lowe, a salesman in New York.
Bingo is a game of chance. There are different versions of this game played in different areas. But always, the objective is to form a pattern on your Bingo card based on the numbers that are drawn by a caller. When a player forms a pattern with their card (and they may have several), they say, "Bingo!"
Here are some tips for playing Bingo in a live Bingo hall.
BINGO PLAYING TIPS
- BE AN EARLY BIRD. If you arrive at the Bingo hall a few hours early, you get to choose a good seat, talk with other players and getting your cards ready. Chat with fellow players. You will learn a lot, such as where are the good and bad places to play Bingo are.
- BRING WHAT YOU NEED. You will need scotch tape or a bottle of paper glue for your cards. You don't want them moving around the table during the game.
- DO NOT DRINK. No alcohol at all for obvious reasons.
- SIT AS CLOSE TO THE CALLER AS POSSIBLE. If you can see the number on the ball sooner, you earn more time to find it on your cards. Just don't get excited and yell "Bingo!" before the number has actually been called.
- BE ALERT. This is the hardest for a beginner to do. It's easy to panic and lose sight of the numbers on your cards when you're in a hurry. You must train your eyes to find the numbers fast as you can call "Bingo!" only until the next number is called.
- CHECK THE PATTERN. You may be so eager to look for the numbers that you overlook the pattern. Keep an eye on it. A common mistake of beginners is not seeing a pattern formed until it is too late.
- PRE-DAUB. No matter what the Bingo game pattern is, make sure you pre-daub the squares that you won't need. This can take a lot of work depending on the game pattern, but it can make things easier for you later on. You probably won't need this later on, but for beginners it helps.
- DO NOT VERBALIZE. Some people have the habit of saying numbers out loud when they hear them, as if to tell their brain about it. This can be very distracting. Don't do it. It may annoy other players.
- MAKE SURE IT'S A BINGO. Nothing worse than crying out a bingo that turns out to be false, right?
Bingo is technically a game of chance. But as you can see, it does involve certain skills that take some time to develop. Take your time, keep playing and enjoy the game!
